Srimad-Bhagavatam: Canto 1 - Chapter 1 - Verse 43 Sanskrit: सूत उवाचकृष्ण एवं भगवति मनोवाग्द‍ृष्टिवृत्तिभि: ।आत्मन्यात्मानमावेश्य सोऽन्त:श्वास उपारमत् ॥ ४३ ॥ ITRANS: sūta uvācakṛṣṇa evaṁ bhagavatimano-vāg-dṛṣṭi-vṛttibhiḥātmany ātmānam āveśyaso ’ntaḥśvāsa upāramat Translation: Sūta Gosvāmī said: Thus Bhīṣmadeva merged himself in the Supersoul, Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, with his mind, speech, sight and actions, and thus he became silent, and his breathing stopped. Purport: The stage attained by Bhīṣmadeva while quitting his material body is called nirvikalpa-samādhi because he merged his self into thinking of the Lord and his mind into remembering His different activities....

Your prowess never deteriorates. You are the proprietor of the transcendental abode, and You descend to relieve the distresses of the cows, the brāhmaṇas and the devotees....

Srimad-Bhagavatam: Canto 1 - Chapter 1 - Verse 43 Sanskrit: उवाच चासहन्त्यस्य बन्धनानयनं सती ।मुच्यतां मुच्यतामेष ब्राह्मणो नितरां गुरु: ॥ ४३ ॥ ITRANS: uvāca cāsahanty asyabandhanānayanaṁ satīmucyatāṁ mucyatām eṣabrāhmaṇo nitarāṁ guruḥ Translation: She could not tolerate Aśvatthāmā’s being bound by ropes, and being a devoted lady, she said: Release him, release him, for he is a brāhmaṇa, our spiritual master. Purport: As soon as Aśvatthāmā was brought before Draupadī, she thought it intolerable that a brāhmaṇa should be arrested like a culprit and brought before her in that condition, especially when the brāhmaṇa happened to be a teacher’s son....

Srimad-Bhagavatam: Canto 12 - Chapter 1 - Verse 44 Sanskrit: विष्णुरश्वतरो रम्भा सूर्यवर्चाश्च सत्यजित् ।विश्वामित्रो मखापेत ऊर्जमासं नयन्त्यमी ॥ ४४ ॥ ITRANS: viṣṇur aśvataro rambhāsūryavarcāś ca satyajitviśvāmitro makhāpetaūrja-māsaṁ nayanty amī Translation: Viṣṇu as the sun-god, Aśvatara as the Nāga, Rambhā as the Apsarā, Sūryavarcā as the Gandharva, Satyajit as the Yakṣa, Viśvāmitra as the sage and Makhāpeta as the Rākṣasa rule the month of Ūrja. Purport: All these sun-gods and their associates are mentioned in divisions in the Kūrma Purāṇa, as follows:

Srimad-Bhagavatam: Canto 12 - Chapter 1 - Verse 44 Sanskrit: ये ये भूपतयो राजन् भुञ्जते भुवमोजसा ।कालेन ते कृता: सर्वे कथामात्रा: कथासु च ॥ ४४ ॥ ITRANS: ye ye bhū-patayo rājanbhuñjate bhuvam ojasākālena te kṛtāḥ sarvekathā-mātrāḥ kathāsu ca Translation: My dear King Parīkṣit, all these kings who tried to enjoy the earth by their strength were reduced by the force of time to nothing more than historical accounts. Purport: The word rājan, “O King,” is significant in this verse....

Srimad-Bhagavatam: Canto 12 - Chapter 1 - Verse 44 Sanskrit: यन्नामधेयं म्रियमाण आतुर:पतन् स्खलन् वा विवशो गृणन् पुमान् ।विमुक्तकर्मार्गल उत्तमां गतिंप्राप्नोति यक्ष्यन्ति न तं कलौ जना: ॥ ४४ ॥ ITRANS: yan-nāmadheyaṁ mriyamāṇa āturaḥpatan skhalan vā vivaśo gṛṇan pumānvimukta-karmārgala uttamāṁ gatiṁprāpnoti yakṣyanti na taṁ kalau janāḥ Translation: Terrified, about to die, a man collapses on his bed. Although his voice is faltering and he is hardly conscious of what he is saying, if he utters the holy name of the Supreme Lord he can be freed from the reaction of his fruitive work and achieve the supreme destination....

Srimad-Bhagavatam: Canto 12 - Chapter 1 - Verse 44 Sanskrit: तेनासौ चतुरो वेदांश्चतुर्भिर्वदनैर्विभु: ।सव्याहृतिकान् सोंकारांश्चातुर्होत्रविवक्षया ॥ ४४ ॥ ITRANS: tenāsau caturo vedāṁścaturbhir vadanair vibhuḥsa-vyāhṛtikān soṁkārāṁścātur-hotra-vivakṣayā Translation: All-powerful Brahmā made use of this collection of sounds to produce from his four faces the four Vedas, which appeared together with the sacred oṁkāra and the seven vyāhṛti invocations. His intention was to propagate the process of Vedic sacrifice according to the different functions performed by the priests of each of the four Vedas....

Srimad-Bhagavatam: Canto 12 - Chapter 1 - Verse 44 Sanskrit: तद् वै भजाम्यृतधियस्तव पादमूलंहित्वेदमात्मच्छदि चात्मगुरो: परस्य ।देहाद्यपार्थमसदन्त्यमभिज्ञमात्रंविन्देत ते तर्हि सर्वमनीषितार्थम् ॥ ४४ ॥ ITRANS: tad vai bhajāmy ṛta-dhiyas tava pāda-mūlaṁhitvedam ātma-cchadi cātma-guroḥ parasyadehādy apārtham asad antyam abhijña-mātraṁvindeta te tarhi sarva-manīṣitārtham Translation: Therefore I worship Your lotus feet, having renounced my identification with the material body and everything else that covers my true self. These useless, insubstantial and temporary coverings are merely presumed to be separate from You, whose intelligence encompasses all truth....

Srimad-Bhagavatam: Canto 11 - Chapter 1 - Verse 44 Sanskrit: तस्माद्वचोमन:प्राणान् नियच्छेन्मत्परायण: ।मद्भ‍‍क्तियुक्तया बुद्ध्या तत: परिसमाप्यते ॥ ४४ ॥ ITRANS: tasmād vaco manaḥ prāṇānniyacchen mat-parāyaṇaḥmad-bhakti-yuktayā buddhyātataḥ parisamāpyate Translation: Being surrendered to Me, one should control the speech, mind and life air, and then through loving devotional intelligence one will completely fulfill the mission of life. Purport: One can develop loving devotional intelligence by perfectly chanting the Brahma-gāyatrī mantra awarded at the moment of brāhmaṇa initiation....

Srimad-Bhagavatam: Canto 11 - Chapter 1 - Verse 44 Sanskrit: समुद्धरन्ति ये विप्रं सीदन्तं मत्परायणम् ।तानुद्धरिष्ये नचिरादापद्‍भ्यो नौरिवार्णवात् ॥ ४४ ॥ ITRANS: samuddharanti ye vipraṁsīdantaṁ mat-parāyaṇamtān uddhariṣye na cirādāpadbhyo naur ivārṇavāt Translation: Just as a ship rescues those who have fallen into the ocean, similarly, I very quickly rescue from all calamities those persons who uplift brāhmaṇas and devotees suffering in a poverty-stricken condition. Purport: The Lord has described how brāhmaṇas and devotees achieve the perfection of life, and now a similar perfection is offered to those who utilize their materialistic wealth to relieve the poverty-stricken condition of devotees and brāhmaṇas....

Srimad-Bhagavatam: Canto 11 - Chapter 1 - Verse 44 Sanskrit: इति मां य: स्वधर्मेण भजेन् नित्यमनन्यभाक् ।सर्वभूतेषु मद्भ‍ावो मद्भ‍‍क्तिं विन्दते द‍ृढाम् ॥ ४४ ॥ ITRANS: iti māṁ yaḥ sva-dharmeṇabhajen nityam ananya-bhāksarva-bhūteṣu mad-bhāvomad-bhaktiṁ vindate dṛḍhām Translation: One who worships Me by his prescribed duty, having no other object of worship, and who remains conscious of Me as present in all living entities, achieves unflinching devotional service unto Me. Purport: It is clearly explained in this verse that loving devotional service unto Lord Kṛṣṇa is the ultimate goal of the entire varṇāśrama system, which the Lord has been elaborately explaining....

Srimad-Bhagavatam: Canto 11 - Chapter 1 - Verse 44 Sanskrit: यथार्चिषां स्रोतसां च फलानां वा वनस्पते: ।तथैव सर्वभूतानां वयोऽवस्थादय: कृता: ॥ ४४ ॥ ITRANS: yathārciṣāṁ srotasāṁ caphalānāṁ vā vanaspateḥtathaiva sarva-bhūtānāṁvayo-’vasthādayaḥ kṛtāḥ Translation: The different stages of transformation of all material bodies occur just like those of the flame of a candle, the current of a river, or the fruits of a tree. Purport: The wavering flame of a candle sometimes waxes brightly and again becomes weak....

Acting as my friend, He simply witnesses from His transcendental position....
