Srimad-Bhagavatam: Canto 8 - Chapter 1 - Verse 1 Sanskrit: श्रीशुक उवाचमनुर्विवस्वत: पुत्र: श्राद्धदेव इति श्रुत: ।सप्तमो वर्तमानो यस्तदपत्यानि मे श‍ृणु ॥ १ ॥ ITRANS: śrī-śuka uvācamanur vivasvataḥ putraḥśrāddhadeva iti śrutaḥsaptamo vartamāno yastad-apatyāni me śṛṇu Translation: Śukadeva Gosvāmī said: The present Manu, who is named Śrāddhadeva, is the son of Vivasvān, the predominating deity on the sun planet. Śrāddhadeva is the seventh Manu. Now please hear from me as I describe his sons....

The seventh son is known as Diṣṭa. Then come Tarūṣa and Pṛṣadhra, and the tenth son is known as Vasumān....

Srimad-Bhagavatam: Canto 8 - Chapter 1 - Verse 9 Sanskrit: तृतीयां वडवामेके तासां संज्ञासुतास्त्रय: ।यमो यमी श्राद्धदेवश्छायायाश्च सुताञ्छृणु ॥ ९ ॥ ITRANS: tṛtīyāṁ vaḍavām eketāsāṁ saṁjñā-sutās trayaḥyamo yamī śrāddhadevaśchāyāyāś ca sutāñ chṛṇu Translation: It is said that the sun-god had a third wife, named Vaḍavā. Of the three wives, the wife named Saṁjñā had three children — Yama, Yamī and Śrāddhadeva. Now let me describe the children of Chāyā. Purport:

Srimad-Bhagavatam: Canto 8 - Chapter 1 - Verse 10 Sanskrit: सावर्णिस्तपती कन्या भार्या संवरणस्य या ।शनैश्चरस्तृतीयोऽभूदश्विनौ वडवात्मजौ ॥ १० ॥ ITRANS: sāvarṇis tapatī kanyābhāryā saṁvaraṇasya yāśanaiścaras tṛtīyo ’bhūdaśvinau vaḍavātmajau Translation: Chāyā had a son named Sāvarṇi and a daughter named Tapatī, who later became the wife of King Saṁvaraṇa. Chāyā’s third child is known as Śanaiścara [Saturn]. Vaḍavā gave birth to two sons, namely the Aśvinī brothers. Purport:

Srimad-Bhagavatam: Canto 8 - Chapter 1 - Verse 11 Sanskrit: अष्टमेऽन्तर आयाते सावर्णिर्भविता मनु: ।निर्मोकविरजस्काद्या: सावर्णितनया नृप ॥ ११ ॥ ITRANS: aṣṭame ’ntara āyātesāvarṇir bhavitā manuḥnirmoka-virajaskādyāḥsāvarṇi-tanayā nṛpa Translation: O King, when the period of the eighth Manu arrives, Sāvarṇi will become the Manu. Nirmoka and Virajaska will be among his sons. Purport: The present reign is that of Vaivasvata Manu. According to astronomical calculations, we are now in the twenty-eighth yuga of Vaivasvata Manu....

Srimad-Bhagavatam: Canto 8 - Chapter 1 - Verse 12 Sanskrit: तत्र देवा: सुतपसो विरजा अमृतप्रभा: ।तेषां विरोचनसुतो बलिरिन्द्रो भविष्यति ॥ १२ ॥ ITRANS: tatra devāḥ sutapasovirajā amṛtaprabhāḥteṣāṁ virocana-sutobalir indro bhaviṣyati Translation: In the period of the eighth Manu, among the demigods will be the Sutapās, the Virajas and the Amṛtaprabhas. The king of the demigods, Indra, will be Bali Mahārāja, the son of Virocana. Purport:

Srimad-Bhagavatam: Canto 8 - Chapter 1 - Verse 13 Sanskrit: दत्त्वेमां याचमानाय विष्णवे य: पदत्रयम् ।राद्धमिन्द्रपदं हित्वा तत: सिद्धिमवाप्स्यति ॥ १३ ॥ ITRANS: dattvemāṁ yācamānāyaviṣṇave yaḥ pada-trayamrāddham indra-padaṁ hitvātataḥ siddhim avāpsyati Translation: Bali Mahārāja gave a gift of three paces of land to Lord Viṣṇu, and because of this charity he lost all the three worlds. Later, however, when Lord Viṣṇu is pleased because of Bali’s giving everything to Him, Bali Mahārāja will achieve the perfection of life....

Srimad-Bhagavatam: Canto 8 - Chapter 1 - Verse 14 Sanskrit: योऽसौ भगवता बद्ध: प्रीतेन सुतले पुन: ।निवेशितोऽधिके स्वर्गादधुनास्ते स्वराडिव ॥ १४ ॥ ITRANS: yo ’sau bhagavatā baddhaḥprītena sutale punaḥniveśito ’dhike svargādadhunāste sva-rāḍ iva Translation: With great affection, the Personality of Godhead bound Bali and then installed him in the kingdom of Sutala, which is more opulent than the heavenly planets. Mahārāja Bali now resides on that planet and is more comfortably situated than Indra....

Srimad-Bhagavatam: Canto 8 - Chapter 1 - Verse 17 Sanskrit: देवगुह्यात्सरस्वत्यां सार्वभौम इति प्रभु: ।स्थानं पुरन्दराद्‌धृत्वा बलये दास्यतीश्वर: ॥ १७ ॥ ITRANS: devaguhyāt sarasvatyāṁsārvabhauma iti prabhuḥsthānaṁ purandarād dhṛtvābalaye dāsyatīśvaraḥ Translation: In the eighth manvantara, the greatly powerful Personality of Godhead Sārvabhauma will take birth. His father will be Devaguhya, and His mother will be Sarasvatī. He will take the kingdom away from Purandara [Lord Indra] and give it to Bali Mahārāja....

Srimad-Bhagavatam: Canto 8 - Chapter 1 - Verse 18 Sanskrit: नवमो दक्षसावर्णिर्मनुर्वरुणसम्भव: ।भूतकेतुर्दीप्तकेतुरित्याद्यास्तत्सुता नृप ॥ १८ ॥ ITRANS: navamo dakṣa-sāvarṇirmanur varuṇa-sambhavaḥbhūtaketur dīptaketurity ādyās tat-sutā nṛpa Translation: O King, the ninth Manu will be Dakṣa-sāvarṇi, who is born of Varuṇa. Among his sons will be Bhūtaketu, and Dīptaketu. Purport:
