Purport: Kṛṣṇa had killed Dvivida’s friend Naraka, and to retaliate the ape intended to destroy Lord Kṛṣṇa’s flourishing kingdom....

He was singing amidst a crowd of young women, and since He had drunk vāruṇī liquor, His eyes rolled as if He were intoxicated....

Srimad-Bhagavatam: Canto 10 - Chapter 1 - Verse 11 Sanskrit: दुष्ट: शाखामृग: शाखामारूढ: कम्पयन् द्रुमान् ।चक्रे किलकिलाशब्दमात्मानं सम्प्रदर्शयन् ॥ ११ ॥ ITRANS: duṣṭaḥ śākhā-mṛgaḥ śākhāmārūḍhaḥ kampayan drumāncakre kilakilā-śabdamātmānaṁ sampradarśayan Translation: The mischievous ape climbed a tree branch and then revealed his presence by shaking the trees and making the sound kilakilā. Purport: The word śākhā-mṛga indicates that the ape Dvivida, like ordinary apes, was naturally inclined to climb trees. Śrīla Prabhupāda writes: “This gorilla by the name Dvivida could climb up into the trees and jump from one branch to another....

Srimad-Bhagavatam: Canto 10 - Chapter 1 - Verse 12 Sanskrit: तस्य धार्ष्‍ट्यं कपेर्वीक्ष्य तरुण्यो जातिचापला: ।हास्यप्रिया विजहसुर्बलदेवपरिग्रहा: ॥ १२ ॥ ITRANS: tasya dhārṣṭyaṁ kaper vīkṣyataruṇyo jāti-cāpalāḥhāsya-priyā vijahasurbaladeva-parigrahāḥ Translation: When Lord Baladeva’s consorts saw the ape’s impudence, they began to laugh. They were, after all, young girls who were fond of joking and prone to silliness. Purport:

Srimad-Bhagavatam: Canto 10 - Chapter 1 - Verse 13 Sanskrit: ता हेलयामास कपिर्भ्रूक्षेपैर्सम्मुखादिभि: ।दर्शयन् स्वगुदं तासां रामस्य च निरीक्षित: ॥ १३ ॥ ITRANS: tā helayām āsa kapirbhrū-kṣepair sammukhādibhiḥdarśayan sva-gudaṁ tāsāṁrāmasya ca nirīkṣitaḥ Translation: Even as Lord Balarāma looked on, Dvivida insulted the girls by making odd gestures with his eyebrows, coming right in front of them, and showing them his anus. Purport: Śrīla Prabhupāda writes: “The gorilla was so rude that even in the presence of Balarāma he began to show the lower part of his body to the women, and sometimes he would come forward to show his teeth while moving his eyebrows....

Srimad-Bhagavatam: Canto 10 - Chapter 1 - Verse 14-15 Sanskrit: तं ग्राव्णा प्राहरत् क्रुद्धो बल: प्रहरतां वर: ।स वञ्चयित्वा ग्रावाणं मदिराकलशं कपि: ॥ १४ ॥गृहीत्वा हेलयामास धूर्तस्तं कोपयन् हसन् ।निर्भिद्य कलशं दुष्टो वासांस्यास्फालयद् बलम् ।कदर्थीकृत्य बलवान् विप्रचक्रे मदोद्धत: ॥ १५ ॥ ITRANS: taṁ grāvṇā prāharat kruddhobalaḥ praharatāṁ varaḥsa vañcayitvā grāvāṇaṁmadirā-kalaśaṁ kapiḥ Translation: Angered, Lord Balarāma, the best of fighters, hurled a rock at him, but the cunning ape dodged the rock and grabbed the Lord’s pot of liquor....

Srimad-Bhagavatam: Canto 10 - Chapter 1 - Verse 16 Sanskrit: तं तस्याविनयं द‍ृष्ट्वा देशांश्च तदुपद्रुतान् ।क्रुद्धो मुषलमादत्त हलं चारिजिघांसया ॥ १६ ॥ ITRANS: taṁ tasyāvinayaṁ dṛṣṭvādeśāṁś ca tad-upadrutānkruddho muṣalam ādattahalaṁ cāri-jighāṁsayā Translation: Lord Balarāma saw the ape’s rude behavior and thought of the disruptions he had created in the surrounding kingdoms. Thus the Lord angrily took up His club and His plow weapon, having decided to put His enemy to death....

Srimad-Bhagavatam: Canto 10 - Chapter 1 - Verse 17 Sanskrit: द्विविदोऽपि महावीर्य: शालमुद्यम्य पाणिना ।अभ्येत्य तरसा तेन बलं मूर्धन्यताडयत् ॥ १७ ॥ ITRANS: dvivido ’pi mahā-vīryaḥśālam udyamya pāṇināabhyetya tarasā tenabalaṁ mūrdhany atāḍayat Translation: Mighty Dvivida also came forward to do battle.
