But Kṛṣṇa playfully circled around him, just as Garuḍa would play with a snake....

Indeed, even now we can smell the fragrance of the tāla fruits spreading all about. Purport: According to Śrīla Śrīdhara Svāmī, the sweet fragrance of the tāla fruits was carried by an easterly wind, which is conducive to rain in the Vṛndāvana area....
Srimad-Bhagavatam: Canto 10 - Chapter 1 - Verse 25 Sanskrit: आत्मानमेवात्मतयाविजानतांतेनैव जातं निखिलं प्रपञ्चितम् ।ज्ञानेन भूयोऽपि च तत् प्रलीयतेरज्ज्वामहेर्भोगभवाभवौ यथा ॥ २५ ॥ ITRANS: ātmānam evātmatayāvijānatāṁtenaiva jātaṁ nikhilaṁ prapañcitamjñānena bhūyo ’pi ca tat pralīyaterajjvām aher bhoga-bhavābhavau yathā Translation: A person who mistakes a rope for a snake becomes fearful, but he then gives up his fear upon realizing that the so-called snake does not exist. Similarly, for those who fail to recognize You as the Supreme Soul of all souls, the expansive illusory material existence arises, but knowledge of You at once causes it to subside....

Indeed, their affection for Kṛṣṇa exceeded even their affection for their own sons. In displaying their affection, they had thus distinguished between Kṛṣṇa and their sons, but now that distinction disappeared....
